The Coffee Pod was 3/1 FAV

The Race!

The Coffee Pod went down to the stalls absolutely fine, loaded into the stalls, and was waiting for the remaining horses to be loaded.
We were in the owners stand waiting for the race to start, when the commentator said that there was a problem in the stalls involving The Coffee Pod, the cameras cut away and we could see them running around with the screens and putting them up around the stalls where he was.

Then we saw the Horse Ambulance going down, and another Vet, and we were told that our horse was on the ground, under the stall, and the jockey was standing to the side, and our horse was being attended to by the vets...........

We thought we had lost him......................

It was the worst 15 minutes ever it really was, other horse owners were trying to be reassuring but it was terrible

The Lingfield 'Owners' liaison lady came to find us, and asked if there was an MPR representative, but when we told her it was just the three of us she said that 'The Clark Of The Couse' (Stephanie Wethered) wanted to see us our hearts missed a beat.

Stephanie said that the vets were attending to The Coffee Pod, and that the longer it took for an update the better, he had been sedated so that they could get him out as he was wedged under the stalls, but he was now in the horse ambulance and was on his way back to the stables for a full examination  and that she would keep us informed as she was in contact with the vets.

It really was a harrowing time for the three of us that were there, and for those connections watching on the TV

After The Incident in The Stalls

----------------

From Richard Hannon Racing

(Received Thursday 3rd July)

Dear The Coffee Pod owner,

THE COFFEE POD

4-year-old Acclamation x Ethel Colt

The Coffee Pod had a mishap in the stalls at Lingfield on Saturday and was withdrawn. He has come home a bit sore from this, so we will give him a bit of time to get over it. A stalls test will now be required before we run him again.

Kind Regards,

Richard Hannon Racing

Vets Report From Monday 30th June

Received Thursday 3rd July

Dear The Coffee Pod owners

Vet’s update from 30th, you’ll note. Vets can take time to write these things up. The report was received today

Rest assured, we’ll keep you posted of any developments.

Good Afternoon,

Please see the Vet’s report below for The Coffee Pod.

30/06/25

Horse was withdrawn from stalls following an accident before racing on Saturday. An immediate swelling noticed associated with the nose.

Has been on bute and box rest over the weekend. Today trotting 2 - 3/10 lame on the left hind. Moderate painful swelling associated with the bridge of the nose, at the level just behind the lip commissure.

Some non-painful swelling at the seat of curb on the left hind, superficial wound on the inside aspect of the right hock and the inside aspect of the left hind fetlock.

Asymmetric appearance to pelvis behind with the left tuber sacrale appearing lower than the right. No significant pain on palpation of the region, maybe long-standing in nature.

Laterals, dorso ventrals and oblique views acquired of maxilla and pre maxilla, no obvious fracture lines currently evident. Ultrasound examination also performed of the pelvis given asymmetry revealed no signs of acute injury with no abnormalities noted associated with the wing or the shaft.

Advise in the absence of pain on palpation, likely be long-standing in nature and not related to the accident in the stalls. Plan bute, walking exercise for a week then reassess.

Best wishes,

Tim Palin
