Stewards Report

DONCASTER STEWARDS' REPORT Friday 25 October 2024
Stewards: Robert McCarthy (Chief Steward), Peter Crafts (Stewards’ Panel Chair), Simon Connaway (Steward), Lauren Thomson (Assistant Steward), Beth Dowswell (Raceday Assistant).

An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final ½ a furlong involving the winner, IRISH
NECTAR, ridden by Shane Gray; THE COFFEE POD, placed fourth, ridden by Tom Eaves and DANZAN
(IRE), placed fifth, ridden by David Allan. Gray was suspended for 5 days for careless riding as although IRISH NECTAR initially shifted quickly right handed, he allowed his mount to continue to drift further righthanded without correction carrying THE COFFEE POD (IRE) off its intended line resulting in Eaves to have to take a check for several strides, which in turn took DANZAN (IRE) also of its intended line resulting in the gelding becoming crowded for room and Allan to have to take a check off heels.
Inside the final ½ a furlong EYE OF DUBAI, placed third, shifted quickly right-handed as its rider pulled his whip through, carrying NARIKO (IRE), placed second, marginally off its intended line. After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, Tom Eaves reported that THE COFFEE POD (IRE), placed fourth, suffered interference inside the final ½ a furlong. David Allan reported that DANZAN (IRE), placed fifth, suffered interference inside the final ½ a furlong.
